Slugging your 30-30 handi barrel
« on: September 06, 2006, 11:32:03 AM »
Has anybody ever slugged your 30-30 handi barrel?  Thinking about loading up some cast bullets and been to lazy to slug mine.  Thanks

I haven't slugged the .30-30, but I've sliugged several other NEF/H&Rs from .223 to .45-70.

I've been shooting a Lyman 311291 sized at .309" in a Lee push through sizer and getting pretty good results as long as the velocity is under 1600 fps (even with a gas check).  I've tried them air cooled and water quenched and the air cooled shoot a little better.  It seems like 15.0 gr of 2400 did well using neck sized brass and a Win LR primer 2.55" OAL.
