pallet stocks

 i have a new 7mm-08 with pallet wood stocks . they look ok but are dull what can i spray on them?

 I snapped some pics last night to update my handi pics and took a couple of the bedliner spray I was talking about.

Here is a shot of the complete gun.



 Here is a shot of FACTORY synthetic butt.



 Now here is a WOOD for-end, I sanded and sprayed with Duplicolor Truck bed liner spray.



 Finally here is one of both Butt and For-end stocks in the same shot.



 Its VERY easy and IMHO looks great.

 for JUST a dull finish you could simply steel wool the stock to the sheen you desire. If a more durable, Matt finish is desired about any spray clear finish in dull/Matt should work fine. Staples or any good office/art supply will have these. Artists use them to "MATT" these work. Especially pastels....

Some of the spray finishes aren't chemical, or even water resistant.  I rubbed a drop or two of linseed oil on mine and let it dry for a couple of days.  It's pretty shiny now.  Formbys Tung Oil would dry faster and harder.  I can't get TruOil to work at all anymore.  It drys too fast.

You don't want to put tung oil over another finish other than hand rubbed oil (like tung).  It's good to seal (moisture/swelling) the inside of the forearm with though.
