Hey Guys,
Just won a leupold 2.5x8x36 VarIII on E-Bay for $285. How did I do. It was used with no scratches and light ring marks. Thumbs up or dumds down. :-)
I'm for gun control as long as I'm the one controlling the gun!!!

Ya dun REAL GOOD!

New it would run $400 anywhere. It is my all time favorite scope for a real honest use hunting rifle. There are several I use and like but that's the one I like best of them all. It offers a combination of size, weight, FOV, eye relief and image quality hard to find in any other scope.

I agree.  For the money, you got a good deal.  I tend to prefer the Nikon Monarchs and Elite 4200s over the Vari-X IIIs, but the IIIs are still great scopes (as I own a few of them myself).

Congrats.

As much as I love the Elite 4200s and the Rainguard Coating they just don't have that combination of size, weight and eye relief found in this particular Leupold scope. It sure would be nice to have the Rainguard coating on it.

I sure don't have them on all of my rifles but my "big gun" the heavy in my stash, my R700 LSS Mtn. Rifle in .30-06 that would go with me should I ever go for game of elk size or larger or to Africa sure wears one. It isn't the gun most used at my house however which does wear a Bushnell.
