« on: September 19, 2006, 03:27:15 PM »
It snowed in Colorado yesterday and we had a wind coming from the north into N.M.was down right chilly.our nights have dropped to the low 50s trees have not turned yet.but the yotes are out.I believe I will go out and see if I can not call in some this weekend.should be some young ones ready to come in and see what happenin when they hear the ole jack rabbit screamin..
has any one else started yet??

Haven't looked much yet but they are everywhere here this year according to the local ranchers. Did shoot one with a 243 and a 75gr Hornady HP. Just using them up, like the 75gr V-Max better. Went into town last week and saw 6 just driving down the road. 35 mi to town.

I did a small amount of scouting.Mostly just driving my jeep around sandy areas.Lot of track.my son and I are headed out in the morning.we will give it a try for a couple hours.
when in town the other day, stopped at the sportsman's warehouse.they had a small call, phantom digital predator caller.interesting little thing.very low volume.but it sounded good.so I bought it.I think it will work for coyotes that are close by.if they ain't there in 5 minutes move on.then ya can come back another day and call louder.
Plus this little caller has a feature that allows you to over lap sounds.you can be calling with the jack rabbit and push the coyote barks and have a duet going on.. thats was kinda cool. the rodents and the woodpecker together sound crazy..that ought ta bring em in.if anything just to see what the H--- is goin on..
