With almost 50 years military/civil service, I have been witness to several of these types of accidents.  It sure hurts when making an ammo delivery to combat troops in an active fire fight, and have the ammo pallet go off target by several thousand yards.  When that happened, we would usually try to drop some "willie peter" on the ammo from our chopper to prevent the VC from getting it.

I spent several years working with the C-130s.  It was used in Viet Nam, and still used today.  In my opinion, it will go down in history as the very best, most widely used, and most reliable cargo aircraft ever developed.

Awhile back someone sent me a link to a website that had hundreds of pics of damage to ships, helecopters, planes, jets and other military vehicles. there was also civilian damage. I wish I had not deleted the link as there was both pics and video of some amazing accidents
