Help me pull the trigger on a new scope.
« on: September 25, 2006, 02:09:08 PM »
I am rescoping a Reminton 700 BDL, in 25-06.

Off comes the Tasco and on goes a ?????

My current top runner is a Leupold VX III  3.5-10 x 40 with a Boone and Crocket reticle.

This is a lot of money and I want to hear that it is worth it or another recommendation.

I will likely put on a Leupold 1 piece base with Leupold standard rings ( I have a lap tool).  Which rings will I need the short or medium?  I have the varmit barrel on rifle.

Where is a good place to get a Leupold,  It seems that all discount places have the same price.   What is the best deal out there?

Any thoughts and recommendations are welcome and sincrerly appreciated.

You might take a look at Nikon Monarch with their new BDC reticle. I have a regular Monarch and it is a real nice scope. Prices seem to be quit a bit less than the Leupold's and Nikons rep is pretty good. (Please don't kill me Leupold people just giving the guy a little heads up on another good product).

I really like the monarch line also.
A bit cheaper, and every bit as clear, at least in my eyes.
be careful though, it is easy to get spoiled!

You will remain a happy hunter with the Leupold VX-III 3.5-10x40mm with the B&C reticle.  $549.95 is the lowest price you will see advertised.  You might be able to get it for less by asking, try theopticzone.com, Bear Basin, D&RSports, etc. Low rings should work.
We learn something new everyday whether we want to or not.

In that price range I prefer all of these over the Leupy:

1.  Zeiss Conquest
2. Bushnell Elite 4200
3. Nikon Monarch

All of these (in my experience) are durable, Lifetime Warranties, and offer better optics than the VX III, although I like my VX III also.
