Folks,
Today, for the how many times I really care not to remember.I went to an accident on a highway that is out in the middle of no where.where folks have to travel up a mt, speed limit is 65mph two lanes that goes to three lanes slower traffic keep right.there are always trucks going up are down the mt.when they go up they are normally loaded and traveling at 10mph.most folks head over the mt at speeds in excess of 80mph.this pretty young lady 25 years of age had just dropped her kids off at the base (2yr old and an 8 yr old)one at school and the other with grandma.she worked here,but today was a compressed friday.she was off.and was headed back into town where she lived with her husband..a paid firefighter for the city.she was travelin up the mt at 85 plus mph.talkin on the cell distarcted at that speed non the less.the huge tracktor trailer never knew it was rear ended.till the driver saw the car in the rear view mirror going to hell in a hand basket.ther were baby things all over the highway and side of the road.scared the hell out of us and we are fearless..The lady was trapped in the car and needed to be extracated..I normally do not write are talk about this stuff.except at the debriefs.
when we finally got her out..15 minutes.(it was bad)both legs were gone as we were moving her there was nothing we could do.her arm fell off.she was in good shape compared to the ones on motorcycles that we have gone to.
I hope every one not only this holiday season but every day.will think about what they are doing when they get into a car.and rememeber that people will miss them and love them very much and want them to come home.pull over to use the phone.don't change that radio station if you have to look at it to see what to do.and when you see an emergancy vechilce coming with lights on pull over for them..they may be headed to help some one that you care about.
