Can you use bird shot in a rifled shotgun bore?
« on: September 17, 2006, 05:22:16 PM »
Hi All

I know a bit about shotguns but I am brand new to the rifled versions

Anyone know of some online resources for cans and cants of the rifled bore?

Thank you

Kid

You can shoot bird shot through a rifled bore, but don't expect any good patterns. The rifling imparts spin on the shotcup and the centrifugal force throws doughnut (ring) shaped patterns with a hole in the middle. If it is close in shooting like sitting bunnies you might get by, but don't expect to go pheasant, duck or turkey hunting with it.
