El Tigre is a homemade lube recipe (a rather complicated one) using soy based wax instead of beeswax. It is intended for use in a lube/sizer and perfectly matches teh orange color Lyman used to paint their units with. It is medium hard when undisturbed, but soft when worked. It is fairly heat resistant, but almost flash melts in a microwave oven -- gets hot quick in there. It smells good. Its clean to handle. It allows one to shoot many rounds without hard fouling in the guns; at least it does with the PRS bullet. It seems to sort of clean the guns as you shoot them; honest. I don't know how it stacks up in fine accuracy, yet. Its got Potential.
One minor problem is bugging me at this point. One of the ingredients, which was marketed as an oil, may have actually had a rather high moisture content. The moisture causes stratification of the lube as it cools. If chilled in a tall cylinder shaped container, the bottom 25% is visually different than the top. Both layers seen to shoot the same (no accuracy testing, yet). I may mill the entire batch and press the milled/mixed product through a honemade die to make hollow sticks. I may figgure a way to reduce or eliminate the moisture (although it may be a good thing). I may seperate them and use as two different products. I may go nuts.
