My son and I returned, last week, from our Idaho bear hunt. It was quite the adventure. The weather was against us. It was over 90 degrees, a full moon, and smoke from the wildfires, filled the valleys. There were 13 hunters, in two camps, and only 6 got bears. My son and I got 2 of the 6
. My son used a H&R Ultra .30-06, with Federal prem. 180 gr. nosler partitions. 1 shot at 200 yds., off the sticks. We couldn't retrieve the bear until the next morning, but it was a 1 shot kill thru the shoulders. This was the longest shot of his life. I was very proud! My bear was taken at 40 feet, with my Marlin .45-70 guide gun. I hit her 3 times in about 5 seconds, and she went only 8 feet. The 2 bears were sows, about 5 footers. Not the biggest bears on the planet, but the only ones we saw in 4 hard days of hunting. They almost look like twins, and are a cinnamon/chocolate color. I have 2-3 nice pics, if I could email them to someone to post for me, cause I'm old and somewhat computer challenged.
