Tikka T3 Light Stainless LH 30-06sprg

Any comments on this rifle? I'm currently saving up to buy one in Left-Hand from Cabela's. They've priced it at $620 and no extra for special order or in store delivery. I chose it primarily because of the price. Left-Handed rifles are few and far between and even more expensive. The caliber will cover any game I can ever hope to hunt in North America with moderate recoil and excellent ballistics. The company stands by their word of out of the box 1" or less accuracy from every rifle. I've handled one of these in right hand (though haven't had the chance to fire it) and am pleased with the operation, feel and aesthetics of it. At first I was planning on getting the Browning A-Bolt II Stainless Stalker LH in 30-06sprg but at a MSRP of over $1100 and no guaranty of accuracy the Tikka I think has it beat.

I'm well decided on this rifle but am hoping to get a little conversation going and find out what other's opinion of it are. As well as hear from all the other Lefty's in this place, few as they may be.

That 30-06 stainless Tikka, you can get it cheaper from gunbroker.... I seen some on "buy it now" for like $525 add another 25 for shipping and thats about $550.

Your buying a Sako with low end stock thats all..... I trully think Tikka is the best rifles in the market for under $1000.

you said your purchasing a brand new one right ?  If it were a used one, I'll tell you to call beretta and ask them if there was a recall on that model.  but if its new, you got nothing to worry about.

Those prices seem high to me.  I bought a Stainless stalker in 7m-08 last year, new, for 700.00 out the door.  I know Tikka's have gone up in price since getting so popular, but I think there are better prices out there.  Just remember if you buy from some one it will have to shipped to someone with a FFL and they will probably charge you another 25.00-50.00 bucks.  But it should be a great rifle for you

Thanks, but remember I'm also purchasing mine in Left-Hand. That generally adds about $100 to the normal price.
As far as Gunbroker.com goes, I've looked at the site but am a bit skeptical of it, if you've got experience with them please tell me.
Yeah I've heard of the recalls but wasn't that on some that were made in the '90s?
The LH rifles are only made a few a month, at least that's what Beretta told me.

I wouldn't go so far as to say the Tikka is a Sako in cheaper clothes.  I've heard they use the same barrels, but the actions are different. 

You might find a lefty Tikka in .30-06 cheaper at Gunbroker.com, but I'm a fan of supporting your local gun dealer.  Keep in mind, at Gunbroker you have to take add the cost of shipping and transfer to your bid price.  This will add at least $30 to the price.  And that's if you've got a local dealer who will handle the transfer for $15-20.  Or he might charge $50 or 10% of the cost of the gun.

Buy it locally and if you have a problem with it you can take it back to the dealer for a redress of grievances. 

I've handled the T3's and like the fit of them.  Glad to hear the left-handed versions are out.  Regrettably, I've already purchased a rifle and scope this year to I don't anticipating being serious about getting another for awhile.  Sometimes I miss my bachelor days.

If I had my wish, I'd get a Montana rifleman lefty, barreled action in .30-06 and get a laminated stock for it.  Financially, the T3 is a much more reasonable option.

I can't say anything good or bad about the Tikka, never owned one.  I do have two Browning LH A-Bolts, a Stainless Stalker 25/06 bought new in 1990, and a Micro Hunter 22 Hornet I just bought this year. 

You can get a Micro Hunter in .308 (another caliber that will cover any game in NA) for about $610. 
Maybe Browning doesn't guarantee the accuracy but mine are both very accurate.

I also have a LH Savage in 7mm-08 that is very accurate, and it was under $450.  You can get a LH Savage in most any caliber from 22LR to 338 Win Mag.  They aren't pretty but they do shoot.

I have a Tikka T3 light 30-06 (right hand).  You will love it.  Mine will shoot easy shoot every factory ammo 1 MOA or less.  Mine loves the cheap Winchester stuff.  About 3/4 inch group in 5 shots all day long.  My reloads are 1/2 inch!!  The trigger can be adjusted to a very light <2 pounds.

Not sure where live but Marks Outdoors in Birmingham Alabama has the T3 in blue for 399.00 and Stainless in 499.00 but that was a few weeks ago.

I've got a Tikka LH.    It's the whitetail.      Blue & walnut stock.    It's in 30/06---it loves the Federal 180 Nolser Partitions----That's what I plan on using for elk in a couple of weeks.       It's REALLY accurate & has a great trigger pull rite out of the box.     Mine is topped with a Leupold VXII  3x9---40MM.      I got it a couple years ago---it was $525 new--if I remember correctly.      I think you made an excellant choice.     My other LH is an  Model 700, that I got back in 1971------it a good gun also.     CB

I know you said you had settled on the Tikka, but.

Too many other companies are Jhonny come lately's to the lefty market.  I own Savages (4) and 3 are left hand.  I doubt I'll buy any other brand, since they are accurate, and affordable. With the new Classic series they are as attractice as any other.

I'm hoping for the European Classic myself.


Rumor has it the Classic will be available in LH for the '07 models.  No one else has as many models and calibers to choose from for LH shooters.  Including stainless, blued, synthetic, wood like I said lots of choices.

YES the Tikka T3 Light Stainless is offered in LH, the 30-06 model # is JRTB420, the RH model is JRTB320. Cabela's offeres the LH for $620, which is about the same price as a Savage in the same caliber LH. I like both rifles but the Tikka has a MUCH smoother action, the buttstock on the Savage is also very thin comparatively. All in all the Tikka is more comfortable for me and that's a big weight towards my decision.
