Encore wont Cock ??????

I just purchased an encore that Im having troubles with. When i received the frame It would not cock, I thought it was just because I didnt have the barrel on it , But that was not the problem When its all together in a rifle format It still wont cock. The hammer wont come back far enough to cock. Is this some factory adjustment made at the factory for safety reasons? If so How do I cure the problem. I need some help so THANKS guys in Advance,,,,Steve

To a lesser extent than you seem to be experiencing my new G2 SS frame is the same way. When I tried without the barrel it just didn't seem to want to come back at all. Once I got the barrel on it still was very reluctant and same with ammo in barrel. I tried the old Contender trick of slamming it closed real hard and it seemed to come back OK then for the most part. I think at least on mine it's a matter of the fit between the bolts and the frame. Wear or fitting are the usual answers to that.

Mine isn't as bad as yours tho and I think it's gonna wear in pretty quickly and do OK. Yours might require some work on the bolts or fitting by a gunsmith or TC. The last of the old stock Contender frames I bought refused to accept over half the barrels I owned at the time. In the past TC had shipped bolts in varying sizes free to help fit such situations. When I contacted them they refused and told me to ship new frame and all barrels to them at my expense and they would fit them all to it and ship it back at my expense.

I told them where to stick it and got totally out of the TC business until recently when I bought the new G2 frame to try with a barrel borrowed from a friend to minimize the cost to see if I want to get back into them with the newer G2 frame. Right now I guess I'm still undecided on that.

It could be that the grip bolt is too tight.  Try backing off on it about a half turn at a time, then try it.  If you find that you get to a point where it will cock, but the grip is loose, you might have to add a thin washer to take up the extra gap.

I had the same problem with my new G2 SS frame, just like Greybeard.  I bought a new custom shop SS barrel, and the hammer would only cock about halfway, not enough to full cock the hammer.  I have several barrels, so tried several ones and it seemed to cock OK then.  Put the custom shop barrel on and "slammed" the barrel closed and seemed to help.  After about doing this about 100 times, it seems to be locking up OK and cocking every time.  I have not had the opportunity to shoot this rig yet, so that's the next test.  If anyone has further suggestions how to correct this, please share!

I messed around with my new G2 today in preparation for the upcoming Handgun Hunt at White Oak and it seemed to work flawlessly today. I think whatever happened was just a burr or some such and it's worked out now. At least I hope so.
