I have some 3/64 cable and some 1/8 cable.I know that the 3/64 cable will not hold a beaver on land so would 1/8 cable work for beaver on land?

Your 3/64" is light ,but It will hold Most beaver. Most beaver dont fight a snare. Then others will just tear up the whole area. You will have a problem making a large loop.
The 1/8" will hold just about anything in North America. But beaver that have been messed with may avoid it.
I think you should make mink/muskrat, rabbit and squirrel snares out of the 3/64" cable. And build drowner cables out of the 1/8" cable.Trade of sell them off. Then get some 3/32" cable for your beavers.

I was hopping to get some snares out for that beaver today or tomarrow.I use the 3/64 for lynx and any animal smaller than that.I seen 3/32 cable and it is alot smaller in diamitor than the 1/8 cable.I thought that a beaver sould breck 3/64 cable like nothing.

They will twist it off.But you will hold most in it.Just get to the snare as soon as you can. Swivel your snares keep them short and try to keep away from anything that will entangle the snared beaver.

I thohought that the 3/64 cable wouldn't be able to hold a beaver on land beause they are so powerful.I'am I right that if the beaver or animal gets tangleb up it could get caght in the lock and have a greater chance of snapping or tiwsting?I will be checking the at about 4pm. on week days and about 12 noon on weekends. Thanks for your help I really appreciatie it.

two, Anchor your wire low.the closer to the groung the better.Beaver dont chew at ground leavel. It wont take much of a tree to hold a beaver.IF you anchor low.Ever try to pull out a seedling ?

It is mostly willows where I will be setting so I will rap te wire low to the ground and pull it tight to for a bundle and I will swing the snare around the tree to make sure there are no abstructions in the way.I thought of a good idea. You put a long stick across the hole where the beaver is coming out but no over the hole tie a long piece of wire to a 15 or more pound rock and the tie a shorter piece of wire to that and put your snare on the run and the rock on the edge to the ice be side the hole. When the beaver gets caught it will go to the water dive down pull the rock in to the hole and the beaver can't get back up and drown.
