Various AKs?
« on: November 07, 2006, 04:36:58 AM »
All,

I am interested in buying a AK-47 clone used mainly for the front seat of a pickup in a ranch.  Probably won't be blazing off any 75 or 100 round drums.  I am looking at the Romanian WASR and the Yugoslavian M70.  I assume the Yugo M70 is a little better quality than the Romanian since it is priced higher.  Is this true?  Are they both stamped receivers?  And why is the Yugo better?

Also ban you put a folding stock on any stamped receiver that comes with a wood stock?

Thanks for all the help!

RR

Hi

Cant speak for the Yugo and I have only held a WASR once

I did have two Chinese versions.  A MAK-90 and a NHM-90 (or was it 91?)

In my opinion they both had much better fit and finish then the WASR and the MAK had a milled receiver

For a tough gun I would go with one of those
