« on: October 07, 2006, 08:54:43 AM »
i was at a local toy store today and saw one in blue and in the commander length
it was almost exactly the same size as my glock 19 but it actually felt alot better in my hand
and its a 45
does anyone own or have any experience with this brand of 1911
im wondering abt reliability as i would use it for home defense and sometimes concealed carry
any opinions good or bad would be appreciated
thanks

I have a full sized that I picked up real cheap....didn't need it, but I liked the price. A lot of people don't care for them, but I have older Colt's, Detonics and several other brands. While it is not a high end custom gun, mine is very basic, but has been very reliable. I changed a few springs, did a little work here and there, and it is a great gun. I carry it a good bit on duty, and I trust it. This is the only Daly that I have owned, so I don't have another Daly to compare it to, but I am fond of mine. A lot of people are gun snobs, and if it doesn't have a certain name on it, then it isn't a good gun. Like I said, it is very basic, I probably wouldn't win any matches w/ it, but I trust it for carry. It shoots everything that I feed it, and I have shot it a lot.

I have been looking at the Charles Daly M-5.  It is a double stack gun.  I think is holds 12 or 13.  It is made by

BUL in Israel.  I have any thing the Isralies make it is usually of very good quality.

In one of the Handgun mags this month there is an article on Charles Daly 45's.  Did not buy the Mag as most of the info seems to

just advertizement.

If you buy a Charles Daly let met know with a follow up on how it shoots and if you like it.  I don't know of anyone owning one.

Good Luck on your decision.
