7600 35 whelen
« on: October 13, 2006, 04:51:34 AM »
How hard are they to come by at a reasonable price??  None of the gunshops here have one.  I've gotten the itch for a 35 whelen in a pump and it just won't go away.

Grice is the way to go first. I found mine at a gun show and snatched it up. Good luck. Bandito

I contacted Grice's and got the gun in last week.  I Love It!!!  Nice looking, smooth and also a better shooter than I expected.  I put a fixed 6X42mm on it and sighted it in 2.5" high at 100 yds.  I was able to get 2 inch groups at 95 yds while standing braced by the side of a tree.  What kind of range can I expect with remington 200 grainers?  The furthest shot this gun will probably ever shoot is 150 yds maybe out to 180 yds, I'm just curious.

The trajectory is pretty flat out to 300 yards, if you set your zero correctly. After about 350 yards, it drops pretty substantially. But don't take my word for it:
