Model 1890 Winchester in 22 WRF
« on: June 08, 2007, 06:41:59 AM »
I have a nice Model 1890 in 22 WRF that I will be selling. I am not trying to post the rifle on this forum but rather get some insight as to the right venue to sell it. I have bought and collected a few rifles at gun shows in the past but I typically don't rent a table and sell guns.  On my 1913 vintage model 1890 I was thinking of listing it on Auction Arms or perhaps Gun Broker to get it in front of the right buyers for this nice old rifle.  I would like to ask the rimfire guys who would know how to proceed.  Let me know what you guys have found to work on these old rifles.

I would find some one locally who could appraise it for you and then just put an ad in the local rag selling it for that price or close to it. If you cannot find some one to appraise it then look for a new gun blue book and try to figure out the condition and value. My Newest price guide book a 2000 R. L. Wilson says if the serial number is under 64,521 ( antique)fair is 900 dollars 3000 for good and 3750 for excellent. serials over that range (curio)  300 fair 700 good and 900 excellent. Now since my book 7 years old you know the prices have had to gone up expecially since it is a Winchester. That is why a appraisal would be the best but if you cannot do that I would buy or go to the library and get a new blue book and figure it out.  Hope this some what helps. What you have is worth some serious dough even with that caliber as the book just states rimfire. I do not know if the caliber would make a difference in price or not since a gun like this is more collectable now then shooter so I do not think it would make a difference.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
