I have been on here for about a week or so and just found this topic. I am fairly new to shooting after not shooting since I was young with a .22, but am looking to learn what I can for an old dog.

Welcome to the board ggeilman!
This is THE BEST site I've found for just about everything (not just hunting and fishing).
I'm not too far from you (San Angelo) and all of my family lives in Seguin.  You've got guys from all over here, and you'll always find SOMEBODY with an answer or something you never knew you didn't know.
