In any case, some reports indicate that the killing in Iraq has been quite extensive--1 out 40 Iraqis killed---up to 650,000 perhaps. Whatever, the real numbers are [always a problem to count in our Wars], the deaths have been very great, and it seems like the conflict plods on.

........TM7

How much of the Hate-Bush kool-aid did ya chase that one down with.............. 1/40th of all Iraqis dead?  Com'on............ get real!!

1 out of 5 Americans are complete idiots............. or whatever the real number is............

Kind of a stupid thing to say isn't it?  But it's kind of (no exactly) what you did with the casualty claims..... 1 out of 40......... or whatever the real numbers are (which of course are MUCH smaller but now we've got the over the top number in the folks heads, so we've accomplished our 'hate Bush' objective) ............ good grief...........

I don't know if I believe the 650K figure, either. It is a statistically valid measurement, but that doesn't mean it is correct. I heard an interview with the fellow who came up with this on the radio. Even he admits it might be wrong, but defends it as the same methodology that is considered acceptable in other such studies done by the Bush Administration itself.

What I think he misses is that for every statistic, there must be some ground-truthing done to ensure it is reasonable. The people on site, both Iraqi and American, don't believe it to be anywhere close to reality, so that to me calls the statistic's veracity into question.

I also noted in the interview that the researcher came out with some other study in 2004, just before the election. It seems he times these things. Kind of made me skeptical about his work.

TM nothing your saying is gonna get my blood pressure up.............. I just don't take anything you say with a grain of salt........... sorry........

Right, I don't know if I believe it either but the number has been bantried ard of lately, I suppose it is possible. Half of that number is 1 out of 80 Iraquis & might be close or more. Reports coming out of middle eastern sources are closer to the 1 in 40, whatever the actual number is the result has been devastating and reportedly many or most Iraquis long for the evil Sad'dam days and enough with evil democracy. Besides the 1in 40  number gets WmRoy's blood pressure up.... ::)

while i may be from a bit younger generation i do have one thing to say about the middle east.  not just this particular with us or the one before with bush sr. the middle east is one big boiling pot of s**t. no matter what any body ever does (whether it be idividual, state or country) will ever make a difference unless someone brings the situation to an understanding.  now what i personally like to call an understanding is when one side of the fight (whether it be us or them) brings the other side to a point of change (not negotiation or any of that baloughney).  Unless somebody finally pulls out the big boy card nothing will ever be acomplished in the middle east, plain and simple (and by big boy i dont mean nuclear). when somebody finally nuts up and says hey, i am tired of this, it is ending.  we can do all of the political bull s**t in the world and nothing will ever change.  sorry this is just my opinion, i hope i dont offend anyone. also, this is a young mans opinion (21) so it may differ from others around here

Here's how it ends.  I read the Book....

The story of the Patriarch Isaac being subjected to trickery is well known. Isaac blessed his secondborn son Jacob and gave him the dominion. But another less known fact is that Isaac pronounced a leftover blessing over his son Esau. He prophesied that Esau will eventually become restless. At some point in history Esau will cast Jacob's yoke of submission from off his neck. At that time the modern children of Esau will run wild. The blessing of Isaac which is applicable here is given in Genesis chapter 27:38-39. It is a prophecy that the descendants of Esau will eventually emerge into world history and express themselves in a wanton and savage way.

The Edomites were always an untamed, predacious, and godless race of people. This prophecy suggests that the children of Esau will break loose from civility and restraint as this age comes to its tumultuous and climactic conclusion. The prophet Daniel, in Daniel 11:41 indicates that the realm of Edom will even escape the control of a mighty king who will precede Moshiach. The prophet Jeremiah predicts a future time when the peaceful law abiding people of Jacob will come into a period of special difficulties which he terms 'Jacob's Trouble'. (Jer. 30) This has been identified as the Tribulation drama of the End times.

Bible students are beginning to discuss the Old Testament prophecies that tell of Messiah coming to judge the wicked at Bozrah. The prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 63 shows the returning Messiah in graphic terms. He is trampling His enemies on the Day of Judgement. The place of this divine wrath is out at Esau's sheepfolds at Bozrah. Apparently Bozrah will be another place of God's Last Judgement. It will be similar to the divine judgement carried out against the armies of the nations threatening Jerusalem from the Valley of Armageddon at end of the age.

Well, as this link shows, people have been prophesying that whatever time we live in is the end time for at least 1000 years.

Anyone looking for the end times, I think, is in for a great disappointment.

Hi fellers (and ladies too!)  Many good points made here but the saddest fact is that we've become a country with no backbone, no morals and money is our god.  My God, the one that is the Father of Jesus Christ, will unfortunately turn his back on this country when we become sorry enough not to deserve His Loving attention.  We need to be teaching our children about God, about how to be strong and promoting decent behavior and attitudes.   How does this relate to this post??   Believe in God,  do the right thing and when you absolutely have to...  fight.   Kick the bad guys butt till his nose bleeds and then kick'em some more for bleeding.  No prisoners, no quarter.  And NOBODY in there right mind will ever give us any grief. All they would have to do is look at the desolation of the house of the last fool and the would be reminded of the price.  There was a time when stirring the sleeping dragon was a bad thing.  After what we did in Japan we were given a wide berth, until Vietnam.   I pray we don't make the same mistake.   We need to let God sort out the Godless.

This whole thing is a American made fiasco. We should have gone directly into Bagdad when Bush Sr. was president and drove the Bath party off the face of the map and then got the h*** out.  As we did it with advance notice to the enemy and they were expecting us the second time around. This would have made General Patton throw up!!!

Like it or not, we ARE in a war, it's islam, against the world. We are not dealing with rational human beings here, human is even debatable in a lot of cases. We are dealing with a cult of Godless , subhuman, scum who hate us. They blaspheme God by murdering innocents, then proclaiming victory in his name. Human life means nothing to them. Yours, mine, even their own. What kind of a man would strap explosives on his own child, point him toward a group of children and tell him that allah will bless him by murdering those children??? A muslim, that's who. What kind of a man would tell his child that by murdering non muslims God will reward them by instant entry to paradise where 72 virgins will await their everey whim and desires??? A muslim, that's who. They've been taught these lies for thousands of years. Imagine their surprise when they open their eyes in hell, thats where they go ya know. God does NOT reward murderers. Is there a country in this world that the Godless ones are NOT murdering innocents?? To win, we must become as ruthless as they are. They hide and fight from hospitols, daycare centers, schools, etc. They set up rocket launchers on top of civilian buildings, stockpile weapons in, or under, schools, hospitols, civilain homes. They do this purposely to increase civilian casualties so they can whine about innocent deaths, which they purposely cause. Israel bent over backwards to avoid civilian deaths, but the Godless ones wanted, and got civilians killed. When we attacked fallujah it should have been completely destroyed, and survivors shot on site. The civilians had ample time to vacate, but refused to. We must make war so terrible, that they will not want it anymore. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I agree with much of what you say.......... however WE MUST NOT BECOME LIKE THEM......... and I don't think it's possible to make War so terrible that they won't want it.............. sad........
