We have tried those decoys but when we had them, they were the roll up kind and you could hardly get them to stay open. I have heard that they have gotten better but I haven't tried the new ones. I don't know how new you are to archery elk hunting but if you want some videos on calling technics you can go to my site at the bottom and check it out. We have got a lot of good response out of are videos and they can really help. I know I wish a video like this was out when I first got started hunting elk. Hope this helps!

I have heard good things and bad things about them.  I know that they have worked for some people but others have said that setting them up just isn't worth the time and effort especially since elk are unpredictable at times so they may not ever see the decoy meaning it was a waste of time to set it up.  My problem is that I don't have horses or anything like that hauling my gear for me so I don't need one more thing to carry around even if it does role or fold up.  (plus they can be spendy)

and in conclusion, in my experiences with bowhunting elk I usually don't have to time to position a decoy before it too late.

that was tested on whitetails.  Hunt asked about the elk.  (not arguing just pointing out)
