How long have you had the gun and how do you carry the magazine (clip as we call them up here)?
The reason I ask is where we hunt in Maine it’s pretty much “Remington Country” and most of them are auto-loading:
Dad shoots a 742 in .30-06
Both of my brothers shoot 7400 synthetics in .30-06.
My cousin uses a 740 in .30-06.
My other cousin’s husband uses a 740 in .280.
Our friend Randy uses a 7400 in .30-06
One of his son’s uses a 7400 Carbine in .30-06
Our friend Dick uses either: BAR in 300 mag., or 7400 in .280, or 740 in .30-06
Another friend Joe uses a BAR in .270
Whenever these guys have had jamming issues (not very often, mind you) they would boil the clips in water; you will not believe the gunk that comes out of there, pine needles, dirt, pocket lint, etc. Then it’s into the oven on low heat until they are dry (sounds like a recipe huh?) That’s it. Don’t oil it or you’ll be boiling the junk out of it much sooner.
I remember being a little shaver at deer camp when my dad had a problem with his 742 jamming; this is exactly what they did. Then a friend of ours took the clip from the oven once it cooled, loaded it with shells, stepped over to the door, pointed the muzzle out and up with the stock on his hip and squeezed off all the rounds in the gun so fast it was like one drawn-out shot.
“Don’t jam now” he said when he handed it back to Dad…

Some of those guys boil their clips every other year just as a precaution…that's about the limit of our "tuning"...
