I did say "I did not believe" but rather "I have not seen". I'd be curious to know who is publishing 1000fps with a 240/250gr lead slug in the 44 special. Are these pressure tested loads within SAAMI limits or something else?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to put you on the defensive. I note that a lot of published data is tested to around 12,000 CUP, however, the SAAMI average maximum pressure limit is 15,500 PSI. That explains why the faster loadings are so hard to come by. Speer #13 lists some in the "900/1000" range with 250 grainers and two powders. (One I am not familiar with, but the other is 2400.) Accurate's older "2.0" guide lists some in the 900 range, as does Hodgdon's data. I'm fairly certain that the Lyman 48th has some, but my book is currently out on loan.

Anybody got good 1000fps loads for 240 grain cast bullets in a 44 special?

I just went through my Lyman and Speer manuals plus the few freebies I've collected over the years from the powder manufacturers and the best I saw was a 240gr SWC @ 840fps and a note that "it did not exceed 15.5K"
