Remington ETRONX ammo

Has anyone reloaded any of the electronic ammo remington had out for the rem. 700 etronx rifle?  I have a chanch of getting one at a really good price and being fiscally challenged (CHEAP) I sure would like some info. B-4 parting with some hard earned $$s,  I have located some electronic primers and from what I have read thats the only difference.  Thanks in advance   JIM

I don't think you should get that gun. It was obsolete before it came on the market and has since disappeared into total obscurity. I doubt you will find reliable sources of ammo for any reasonable future with that gun. It was a true novelty that was totally rejected by the market like no other gun I can recall.

Even if you someone gave you the gun (great for a future Collectors gun) it would never be cost effective to shoot.

The situation is worse than I thought. There doesn't appear to be any ammo available. Some cases are available in quantities of 1000 only (at a cost of over $500). Some places catalog the primers, but most that do note that they are sold out.

I wouldn't take the rifle if you gave it to me. It seems utterly worthless.

WOW I CANT BELIEVE WHAT I HAVE READ JUST NOW.   HERE IS WHAT I AM GOING TO TELL YOU .    GET THE GUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN.  FIRST THE GUN IS BEING PICKED UP IN A GOOD DEAL. SECOND IF YOU CAN RELOAD AND THE ONLY DIFFRENCE IS THE PRIMER AND YOU CAN GET THEM THERE IS YOUR ANSWER.  WHO CARES ABOUT THE COST TO RELOAD. EVERYTHING IS RELATIVE.  MY SMITH 500 AND 308 LAZZERONI COST A LOT MORE THANK MY 22-250 SHOULD I THROW THEM AWAY. 

I THINK THAT THE GUN EXCITES YOU, YOU CAN RELOAD IT, GET IT.  I WOULD NOT TAKE ADVICE FROM SOMEONE OF STATES HE WOULD NOT TAKE A FREE GUN. HELL I DONT CARE IF IT WAS A DAISY RED RIDER (THAT IS A BB GUN) I WILL TAKE IT. AND REMEBER SOME PEOPLE HAVE MORE MONEY THAN OTHERS. SO BUY WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD AND HAVE FUN.

 If you cannot get primers for the gun you won't even get that far All you've bought is an expensive tomato stake.

I am probably going to pick up the rifle, I talked to remington on friday and they still manufacture  the primers and still manufacture some of the ammo 220 swift was mentioned but not the 243 and the only difference is the primer you just use standard 243 load data and 243 brass the primers go in and out the same as any other primer, the cost of the rifle is really not a issue as I basically already own it as it came in on a pawn with some others and the cost will just be spread out over those with a net cost to me of 0.  I will take it to the Tulsa gun show and just see what it will do b-4 I invest in a 1000 primers, may just get the primers there and come home and start loading/shooting the darn thing, theres always room in the safes for at least one more firearm    JIM

You can get primers. just more $$$
The up side is you are buying a PREMIUM Rem rifle at a great price.
Years from not it MAY be looked at as a great rifle just years ahead of it's time

I would think really hard about the options before getting the rifle.  I have picked up half my rifles used at great prices and never have to worry about finding special components to reload them.  If you are “fiscally challenged” as you state, a standard rifle is a better deal in the long run, even if it costs a bit more.

Personally, its like the Remington 721 - I wouldn’t spend $100 on one.  If someone gave me one it would get traded very quickly.

I will take the 721 at fair prices, and fiscally challenged has never been a issue at least for the last 40+ years, the original post was (has anyone had any experience with the electronic primers for the ETRONX) thanks for all who have responded If any are going to the Tulsa Gunshow you may see me carrying around a 1000 electronic primers for my net cost of 0$     JIM

I did state fiscally challenged (cheap) I forgot that, a friend of mine was here and I am always refering to him as cheap and I put that in while he was here and we both got a good laugh over it, but according to my bride theres no limit as to what I will spend on ( another Gun ) JIM
