3-Screw Ruger value?

I just picked up an old 3-Screw Ruger Blackhawk in .357, with a 6" barrel.  Its not in the best condition, but I would rate it around 70% with just a hint of rust.  Mechanics are solid, and I think most of the rust can be polished out with a wool brush.  Internals look very good, and this gun would definitely benefit from a good cleaning.  Serial number indicates a manufacture date in the late 60's.  Any idea on a value?

In the condition you describe, I would say around $275 with the original grips. Being in the 70% range catgorizes the gun as a shooter. The lock work can be removed(to avoid the transfer bar conversion) and the gun shipped back to Ruger for a refinish. No one does it better than they do and for a reasonable price too. Either way, you got yourself a piece of Ruger history and a fine gun.

ill agree with flash about 250-300 with the original parts if its been converted about 200

No, its a completely original gun and has not been converted.  ANy idea what Ruger would charge to refinish the gun?

Can't you reverse the covnersion wince they return the old parts to you?  Why would this reduce the guns value?

Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

rimfire, ruger will stamp the frame and anyone who is in the know will realize the gun had been converted at some point in its life. Even if the orgional parts are replaced the stamp remains. Byron

I never thought that a factory stamp would reduce the guns value.  Seems odd to me, but collectors can be an odd sort sometimes...and I am one of them.

rimfire, on a high condition gun the value would be less. On a shooter it probably would not matter much. Of course the gun would be worth more to most of us with the orgional parts than without them. Regards, Byron  ;D
