Why would anyone even WANT to hunt like that? I enjoy the challenge and outdoor expirience, as I am sure most of the rest of you do. I guess we know who to thank for giving PETA ammo to attack us and for contributing to spreading CWD. Just makes me mad that people put a price on antlers. I think B&C is somewhat (not completely by any means) responsible for making so many people trophy hunters. I am not talking about the average Joe who tries to shoot a big buck, but is willing to settle for some meat for the freezer if that's all that walks by and who actually enjoys the outdoors without shooting anything.  BUT I am talking the "hunters" with too much money (and often too little skill) who can't stand anything less than a trophy and will do anything to get one.
Having said that I will admit that I would love to take a big buck, but would never go to those extremes. I don't think I am much of a trophy hunter though, every year except for one I have applied for antlerless tags because they are cheaper, easier to get, and when I have antlerless tags is when I see the biggest bucks  ;) . Funny how that happens, but it is just as much fun to watch them in the wild.

I am glad this video was posted here.  Like was mentioned in the video, hunters remaining silent on the issue of high fence hunting just makes the anti-hunting crowd paint us all with the same brush.  I myself even detest that a forum like this (which is very good in so many ways) would have a forum specific to exotic game hunting and ranching behind fences.  I posted a negative comment there just last week and it was quickly deleted.  They don't seem to like anyone challenging their way of "hunting" I guess.  It is also quite disturbing to read how some of the people there seem so proud of these kills with links to photos of all the animals they slayed at game ranches.  One guy defends himself by saying that hunting behind a fence is LITTLE different than the guy who hunts a food plot or any area where there is a high concentration of game.  To him those hunts are just as easy.  Maybe they are easIER than other hunts in other locations, but the animals weren't brought in from other locations in cages or whatever and are NOT held captive in an any kind of enclosure like animals in a game farm!  To me a hunter shooting a free ranging skinny doe, or the scrawniest of bucks is MUCH more worthy of being called a HUNTER than the guy shooting the biggest racked animal in ANY game farm!  Yes, maybe there are some big ranches where you never see a fence, but the facts are that the animals ARE in an enclosure.  You can be sure that if the ranch is selling hunts for thousands upon thousands of dollars they will be doing their darndest NOT to let these animals escape.  If they can't escape, it is NOT hunting and the animal is NOT a wild animal.   They are simply shooting an animal and certainly NOT hunting.  I have observed that many hunters want to keep hush on many issues and let others hunt anyway they want.  I don't totally disagree with this, but when it comes to hunting in enclosures I just can't stand to be silent.  This will ruin the reputation of ALL hunting and hunters, and the word "HUNTING" should not be used for such activities.

Some will always suggest that anything that involves shooting is "hunting".  Those people usually claim that if you don't support the "Anything goes" definition then you might as well be a card carrying member of PETA.  I believe those people are the problem.  Their ignorance and laziness reflect poorly on all hunters and will ultimately lead to a loss of public perception.  Loss of public setiment will hurt hunting opportunities for real hunters.

I believe an animal must have an opportunity to run off my property boundary in order to consider it "fair chase" and I won't hunt an animal otherwise.  I wouldn't bat an eye if they outlawed these disgusting slaughters.

The challenge to this debate to me is that people should always have the right to do what they want with their own property.  I've got a several cattle and if i wanted to go shoot them I should be able to.  I wouldn't consider it hunting, and I would hope other real hunters wouldn't either, but it makes the issue complicated.  Further complicating the issue is that some people believe the standard for what constitutes "hunting" is how hard something is.  If you look for a buffalo in a 40 acre pasture that's not hunting but looking for a pig in 40 acre woodlot is.  There is no easy way to draw a line when the standard is difficulty.  Thus I've chosen to make my standard that of enclosure.  If an animal is not free to run off the property it changes the dynamic of the pursuit, and FOR ME, it is no longer hunting.

If hunters worried more about the image they project and the ethics they espouse this wouldn't be a problem.

I agree 100% that hunters should worry about the image they project.  It seems to me that most don't however.  It just kills me when I see Ted Nugent (another "hunter" who loves game farms) getting lots of TV and radio appearances supposedly defending hunting and hunters.  To me he is just about the worst guy we can have up there.  Unfortunately there aren't many well known people stepping up to the plate for hunting, but why do we have to settle for this moron just because there isn't anyone else??  He looks like his brains have been fried on something eventhough he keeps telling kids to stay off drugs.  He is NOT what the non-hunter should think all hunters are like, and the same goes with hunting in game farms.

I'm with Two-Bears the industry should know what is taking place. Its disgusting to know that an individual who has a hunting show would make you believe that they are hunting in the wild. The animals that are contained in a small acreage and then hunted is non-sporting. The animal should be given a fair chase.

That reminds me of most of the hunts they show on the cable channel 96 here in Utah.
They show tree stands or tree houses right next to feeders or food plots.
Some people will do ANYTHING  to kill a trophy.
I do not believe in using feeders ,food plots or bait  .

And if you want to buy a trophy you can have it delivered .
                        Pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not really sure what is wrong with hunting from a deer blind.  I have a couple myself.  They are quite comfortable and I can sit in one for many hours.  You should try it sometime.  Nice cushy seat, shielded from rain and wind.  I have to be honest, frequently, I will select comfort over a prime spot when out hunting.  If I am not comfortable, I am not enjoying myself, and isn't that why we are supposed to be out there?  To enjoy the experience!

Granted, I have several tree stands also.

I'm sure I will get firebombed for this, but I have no problem with high fence areas.  It doesn't excite me in the least to shoot a animal behind one, thus I never have.  BUT if someone wants to pay to "hunt" behind a fence, have at it.  Granted, drugging them and putting them in pens the size of my dog run is certainly unethical.  But most places have several hundred acres under fence.  Its still not free range hunting, but it certainly is not the same as what this video shows.

I no not believe in using feeders ,food plots or bait  .

Why not?  You would hunt next to a good acorn patch or near a wild apple tree wouldn't you?  Same thing, sitting in an area waiting for deer to come to an attractant.

Furthermore, for those that have never tried baiting deer let me state this:  IT IS NO GUARANTEE!!!  I have a few corn feeders on my property in Oklahoma, the deer come sometimes, usually not.  They know it is there, but they don't come running to it like many people imagine or have even seen on TV.  A couple of things to remember about TV, many of those shows are on high fenced areas OR the place they are hunting has an extremely dense deer population and those deer are HUNGRY!

Also, I have yet to see ANY "shooter" bucks near my feeder (at least during daylight hours).  Typically they are smart and those deer don't come near those things.  Only deer I have killed under a feeder are antlerless.

  ELK STALKER

Sitting next to a  good  WILD acorn patch or near a WILD  apple tree in not  the same as PLANTING  A CROP  OR BAITING.
Sorry to me unless your handicapped using Feeders ,Food plots , and Baiting is just  CHEATTING  !!  :( :(
I will stick with still hunting or spot and stalking.
