Mange

This summer I have shot more woodchucks that had a mange problem than ever.
This afternoon  I spotted a fox along the road infront of my house eating a roadkill possum.
Upon close inspection the fox had almost 1/4 of it's fur missing and it's ears were badly fly bitten. I doubt it would have lasted into the winter

Please tell me that you didn't shoot the thing out of season , and yes Mange is very bad this year , may have something to do with all the rain we had early in the summer .

Well I will put it this way.
A fox in broad daylight 50 ft  from my buildings.
Would you want a fox to bite your dog or cat or kid?
OF COURSE I SHOT IT

I forgot to add that through the scope at 85 yards I could see missing fur easily.
This evening I chatted with several other local varminters and There have been several other local kills by concerned hunters

I was being a SA , of corse you did the right thing , and i would have done it too , in a heartbeat !!!!!
