7-30 Waters Load info
« on: October 07, 2006, 11:13:44 AM »
I bought my wife a 24" Contender barrel in 7-30 Waters, for her deer gun.   I am running out of time for load developement and would like your input.     I have Horn 139 gr,  Nosler 140gr and Rem 150 gr bullets on hand.    Thanks.

Try imr 4064 and WLr primers with the 139's I use these in a 14" contender. The Hornady book lists from 27.5 gr. to 34.8 for 2200 to 2600 max in a 24" M99AE.They use Fed210's  My barrel tops out at 33 grains with excellent accuracy.1 1/2" at 100 yards with a 6x scope and sand bags. I was worried about using them in a short barrel .but penetration test on wet phone books and the accuracy makes me think again!

CB

Search this site for 7x30 load info, there has been much posted here over the years.  GB has some good 7x30 load info on here as well.

Good luck.

Sent you a PM. Both of my 7-30 Waters shoot the Hornady 129grn SST with great accuracy using IMR4895. I would have to get my book at home for the specific loads. I also tried some Varget but not as good.
I shoot the 120grn Hornady SP's for silhouette, Nosler 120grn BT's for deer and varmints and for the bigger deer I use the 129grn Hornady SST.
