I don't like the 3X9 scopes as they have too much power for most of the shots within 100 yards. I put a 1.5-5 X32 power Simmons Pro-Diamond Shotgun scope on my Huntsman. I like the diamond over the crosshair center which helps fast pickup of the crosshairs and works like a range finder. I have made one running shot in the trees with the scope on 1.5 and it was just like using iron sights for the ease of picking up the elk (I shoot both eyes open). The scope is very clear and sharp compared with other similar less expensive scopes. Make sure you do not get the illuminated reticle version as the back ring is larger and will cause interferance with the hammer. The standard one will clear the hammer and the rear sight (just barely) with a medium height ring.

3x9x40-42-44 on low power let a lot of light in...
Also the wally world BSA red dots / magnification / $29.99 are also very nice and you can use them during your primitive weapon season if they dont alow magnifcation....a very nice low $ alternative to iron / peep-tang sights. they dont take up much space / dont get in the way either.
I highly reccomend at least trying an inexpensive red dot...if you dont like it you can return it...but i bet youll keep it.
hope this helps

2x Tasco Bantam... $40. Mount forward on the factory rail, and I have a neat scout arrangement, without needing a hammer spur.

I use a Tasco red dot on mine. Three deer with it so far, two right at dark when crosshairs would have been difficult to see. Paid about a$40 for it.

Gotta say, I have a cheap tasco pronghorn 4x on mine. Works like a charm. And super cheap. bought it used on ebay for something like $15 including shipping.
