Well nabob;
I won't go through a whole litany again ..because I am quite sure that most folks here DO know the difference in how the conservative and liberal elements react to:

  1) Military
  2) Christianity
  3) homosexuality
  4) UN
  5) US soverignty
  6) family values
  7) taxes
  8) pampering perversion
  9) same sex marriage
 10) church/state issues
 11) animal rights equal to humans
 12) socialism
 13) wealth redistribution
 14) death tax
 15) marriage penalty tax
 16) gun rights

I don't have to explain to 90% of the people here just how differently the Republicans and Democrats look at these issues that mean so much to each of us !

All they have to do is read the list...and they automatically know...rather elementary; isn't it !
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Actually, your both right, and that's why neither party deserves my vote.   I believe both parties are working for the same goal, that being, "the new world order", or a one world government with the elemination of the middle class and enslaving the poor.  Now granted, they have different ideas about how to accomplish their goals, but the end is the same.  Think about how much liberty you've lost.

Our elected officals could care less about the middle and lower classes...........

It's a conspiracy.

Ironglow, your last post is more of "we know what we know, don't bother us with facts" nonsense. I answered each of your points and the best you can do is assert some sort of shared belief with other people here? That's another logical fallacy: appeal to belief. You can read about it at http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/appeal-to-belief.html

I've voted in every election I could since I was old enough to vote. Voting is not just a right and privelege, it's our duty. I never vote for a 3rd party, they have no chance of winning, just a wasted vote. I've voted straight Republican since b j bill took office the first time. Not really hard to choose. One parties platform says it supports, and promotes killing babies, the other party doesn't. One party says that it supports, even promotes gay marriage, the other opposes it.One party says that citizens should NOT be allowed to own, or posess firearms, the other supports our 2nd amendment rights.  Nope, a  no brainer for me. POWDERMAN.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

This is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!!  It's the reason we had to tolerate Bill Clinton!  And if Dole would have shown his true self we wouldn't have had Clinton for 2 terms.............. Dole is one funny man, and everyone always thought he was a stuffed shirt...........

I'm not one of those I vote the "Man" folks, I VOTE THE PARTY!!!  Always have, always WILL!!  If you're not voting a straight ticket GOP then youi're part of the reason we have the mess we have................ sorry if that ruffles feathers but that's the way I see it!

I'll always vote, Also at the local and State levels, which is real important. I'm not happy with either major party, but will vote for who I think is will stick closer to the original intent of the constitution (no I don't need a constitutional expert to explain what it means, our forefathers explained it well enough) and I am not willing to give up any rights, especially gun rights. I have as much right to carry a gun as I do to say what I think, so the gun issue is very important to me.
It's true I have voted for mostly Republicans, but that is because that is where some of the people are who think the way I do, or at least more than the other party. I'm independent, and also feel I'm voting against someone, rather than for someone. That stinks. I think the Republicans were at their best back when Newt was leading the pack, but it didn't take long after they gained power to forget what the majority voted for. That being said, after 40 years of Dem control in Congrress, I already know what the Dems stand for, nothing has changed there. Both parties are now spending our money like crazy.
I'd vote for anyone who closed our borders at this point...don't care who they are....
and anyone who would stop pussy footing around with this politically correct world view crap. Pull back our troops just a little ways...totally level a large problem area...and ask..."anybody else have a car bomb?"
Looks bad...works well.

My opinion...they vary.

I ahve no real answers--but I do have answers.
The party system IS a problem but when you look at it what can one do? It is natural for like minded folks to come together.
What we have become is a group that TRUSTS that a party is the answer. I say it is not the answer but the problem.
I almost got kicked out of a government class in college because I disagreed with the prof. on this issue.
Folks, what we need to do is put like minded folks in office. I say like minded in the sense that I can trust that they are like minded as me--whether that be liberal or conservative is not the arguement.
We are all more liberal minded than we should be. Conservative minded folks can be awfully hardheaded.

1) The Dems do NOT promote abortion. They do believe that there exists a right to such a procedure.

I don't. I am absolutely against abortion, no exceptions.

However, it is one thing to support such an act and another to "promote" it. I don't see any candidate running an ad saying "women should have more abortions". So the idea that the Dems "promote" abortions is wrong.

2) Gay marriage - homosexuality is a topic that GB does not want to see discussed, so in deference to him, I'll stay away from it. No problem.

3) 2nd Amendment - the idea that the Dems somehow want no one to possess firearms is ridiculous. Show proof, powderman.Where is that in the platform of the national campaign or in any campaign literature for any Democrat.

C'mon, guys - telling yourselves these sorts of stories to justify a vote against a Dem is beneath you. There are PLENTY of reasons not to vote for Dems. Shouldn't, however, your vote be an informed one instead of just buying into the lies you've been told and chosen to believe.

I don't vote for either major party. WmRoy, you believe that makes me part of the problem. I'm OK with that, actually. No feathers ruffled. I tend to think that part of the problem we have in this country is when either party has both legislative branches and the executive branch. I think we are safest with a divided government.

I vote Republican every time the polls are open.  I don't care how long I have to stand in line, or what the weather is like.  I vote even when I know my party won't win.

 Nabob;
The questions I posed in 16 points can be read and decided upon by each person reading the points..they don't need you to "interpret" those points.

Most of these guys have lived long enough, and are smart enough to know which types; liberal or conservative.. come down where, on each count ! My points were only remuinders... We have some pretty savvy guys on this forum !

Most of these guys I believe, are intellectual enough to know that a third party vote in the present climate is a "throwaway" vote..that may well elect the one you would LEAST like to see in office..

I agree with S. Sumner..both parties have a lot lacking but one is much closer to the things I hold dear than the other is..

We should all realize, there is no perfect party and no perfect man ..present company not excepted ..Only one perfect man ever walked this earth !

..So, I see it as a rather simple matter as Powderman does...Pick out the major points that you consider important values, find  the person/party that agrees with them and cast your vote that way....strange; but you will probably find later that the agreement goes much deeper into subjects that never came up in the campaign.

The big divider seems to be those that believe in God...and those that do not !

All said and done, we cannot and should not presume to tell others how to vote...

Probably our most effective voice can be found in REMINDING folks just how people/party HAS VOTED in the past !
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Nabob, you're probably right that the Dems don't put anti-gun stuff in their literature, but you have to be monumentally blind, or rationalizing beyond belief to believe that creatures like Diane Feinstein, Shmuck Shummer, Hillary Rotten Clinton, and so many other Dumbycrats wouldn't take your guns in a New York second if they get the chance.

Examine their websites, voting records, and the anti-gun groups that support them.  I'm the NRA and I vote Republican.

Thought so.

The proof like the truth is there if you'll pull you head out of the sand and take a look around.  Know dems no guns, no dems know guns.

The truth to me seems to be that no one can actually point anything that supports the assertion that Democrats want to disarm the entire population. Looks to me like people have bought into the scare tactics the Republicans use to manipulate people into voting a certain way.

If the truth is so obvious, why can't proof be produced?

Swampman, I see a news report that shows Dems want more restrictions on firearms but nothing that says they wish to disarm the population. That's a big difference and it is part of what I'm talking about - telling ourselves that we know what we know, even when there isn't any proof. Powderman made a statement that the Dems believe that no one should possess firearms. Well, that is an exaggeration. There is no proof for that statement, no plank in the national party platform, no statement by anyone speaking for Dems as a whole that I can find to support that assertion.

It is one thing to vote against Dems for wanting more restrictions on firearms. That's a valid criticism. However, it is not valid to start making up stuff and dunning them for that. Vote against Dems for what they believe and support, not for what you've projected on them.

No one is suggesting you should, Swampman. Certainly not me. I don't vote Democratic either.

However, I don't have to make up stuff to justify my vote, either. I know exactly where the Dems stand on things and it isn't where I stand. I'm pretty much a two issue voter - abortion and gun restrictions. I'm not in favor of either.

Basically, I think that Homeland Security, as presently constituted, is a bad joke on ourselves.

And as for taxes, the choice is between tax and spend liberals and spend spend spend Republicans. Neither choice excites me enough to vote for a Dem or a Republican.

For the most part, I just want to be left alone to the greatest extent possible and neither Dems nor Republicans have that as their outlook. Both are in favor of bigger government intrusion into my life. Honestly, I've about given up on participating because I think that both parties want to take this country down paths I don't want to go.

Nope. It is a vote that didn't go to a Republican. Nothing more. It also didn't go to Democrat.

Some of us actually vote for people we like instead of against people we don't like.

I don't vote for people at all.  I vote my principles.  I can't let dirt bags take over.  "The only thing necessary for evil to flourish, is for good men to do nothing."  If you let a baby killer get elected because you didn't vote then you are party to murder.

Parties have the power in this nation--AT ALL LEVELS--and politicians bow at the knee to them in order to be elected. I would even state that most politicians do not care what the issues are as long as they are backed by the party which will get them elected.

I received the following this afternoon, it has been around for several years.  I don't know how accurate it is today, but when written it was dead on.  With folks like this in office we are in a "heap" of trouble, but the truth of the matter is, it is at every level of government.  AS the moral fiber of this nation deterorates, so does this nation.

NBA or NFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse

7 have been arrested for fraud

19 have b een accused of writing bad checks

117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at  least 2 businesses

3 have done time for assault

71, repeat 71 cannot get a  credit card due to bad credit

14 have been arrested on drug-related charges

8 have been arrested for shoplifting

21 currently< BR>are defendants in lawsuits, and

84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet? . . . Scroll down,

Neither, it's the 535 members of the United States Congress.
Thesame  group of Idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year

Would you still vote your party? With the exception of perhaps a couple of honest politico's in DC the rest (STINK) and need to go home!! It took me almost 40 yrs to realize there is NO lesser of two evils. Evil is just Evil. This year I will vote Independent. Google up the Constitution Party and check them out!!!
