cleaning walnut and corn cob medium

If this has been posted already.Sorry.
I noticed years a go that the medium when new left a dusty residue on the brass and every thing that it touched.then after a lot of use it was leaving the brass not as clean looking as it used to.black looking pasty stuff in the extractor groove ect.
so I got a 5 gallon bucket and put some dish soap in it and filled with warm water.then put the medium in and sloshed between two 5 gallon buckets.changeing the water every now and then.then I used apair of nylon panty hose to put over the top of the bucket and poured the water out and the nylon sock trapped the medium.then I spread it on a sheet and put it in the sun.it was better then new.now when I buy new corn or walnut I wash it 1st and dry and it seems to make the brass cleaner with out all the dusty stuff clinging to every thing.

also I found static elec. made the medium cling to the bowl and seperator.in the laundry section they have spray cans of anti static for clothes.it works well for the plastic tumbler ect.just give her a shot on the surface and the stuff will just fall out.hope this helps.

You can also clean  tumbling media by throwing a couple of dryer sheets in, right along with the brass, or by itself!

Don,I polish a lot of brass.and the stuff spills I have washed it twice by the 3rd wash there is not enough to worry about and I buy some new medium.I came upon this one day cleaning a lot of brass and it just was not working out and it was going to take to long to get new media.plus with new kids I did not have money for that kinda stuff at the time so.I washed the stuff and had the wife give me an old pair of nylon hose and it turned out better then I thought it would.the sun here is Hot and made that walnut shell hard.I put it back in the bowl and squirted some Flitz in there and ran it for a while to reimpregnate the shells.It turned out good.
my bowl is to big to really wash and I would be afraid that I migh get water on the motor.and the static spary works sweet.if the bowl has some residue.I put some citrus cleaner are such on a colth and wipe her down..
