BSA Holo sight
« on: October 10, 2006, 06:05:47 PM »
I bought the BSA holo sight from midway for $50. I think it was a closeout. I put it on a .45 Win mag Contender. It shot great with my reduced loads. I liked the view - this was much better than red dot sights. I switched to the full loads and I started getting wandering groups.

I looked things over and found that the lens structure was loose. I tightend the screws and after a couple of shots they again worked loose. I am going to locktite the screws on the lens structure and see if this helps.

I will  post again with the results.

Well I did locktite the screws and the thing worked loose on the first shot.

My next step is to use epoxy on the screws.

After that drilling and tapping for larger screws.

If that doesn't work, maybe I will buy a .25 ACP barrel for the contender (do they make one?) and put it on that.

I notice that this sight now seems (from the picture) to be sold as the ATN Digital Ultra Sight (in American Rifleman) for $169.

To be continued...

I thought it looked like my ATN.  Mine has worked fine, but it is on a Browning Buckmark .22 pistol so no major recoil.
