Parts for old style contender hammer
« on: October 12, 2006, 03:00:32 AM »
While shooting my 44 mag TC contender yesterday the hammer nose detents and the screw that fits in behind the hammer nose fell out and I could not find them. I called TC this morning and they told me I'd have to send in the frame to get this fixed. I could replace the parts if I could find them somewhere. Does anyone have any idea where I could buy these parts? This is the wrong time of the year to be sending the frame away for something such as this.(hunting and all). Thanks for any help.

Last time I sent a frame to T/C for the very same thing you mentioned, they sent me a brand new frame. It took about 3 to 4 weeks but it was worth it.

JustOutdoors, Is that the only hunting gun you have? If so, maybe TC could rush your repair if you told them the reason.  ;D This sounds like a good reason to purchase a new gun, I mean you have a good reason with hunting season and all. I know youll do the right thing.

Now what caliber should you get next? Regards, Byron

The only reason they replace the frame is if there is a functional reason to.  Chances are you will get your frame back repaired.  If you don't it is because it was no longer repairable or was unsafe.

I had exactly the same problem, I called TC and they said to send the frame in. I asked if I could just send the hammer as I wanted to keep the gun original they said I was welcome to send just the hammer if I could re-assemble it myself. I dropped the hammer in the mail and about a week later I got a new old style hammer in the mail. No charge.
