Taking my 5-year old out for 9 days right after rifle season here in Nebraska. We are planning a short (no pun intended, son) mixed line of rats, beaver, coon, mink, fox, and coyote. If we get back out a couple weeks later will try for some early opener cats, too.
permissions are secured, traps are ready, bait and lure ready to go, and he is working on filling up a coffee can we keep in an old freezer by trapping mice in our shed. (fox bait)

Absolutely! Season opens for K-9's and coon next week and I am planning on being out there. Mostly have everything ready to go, will be pre-baiting boxes for coon this coming weekend, and digging holes.

I'm a second year trapper, Last year tried my hand at land trapping. Had good sucess with the k-9's. This year I'm tring my hand at water trapping. Tomorrow water trapping opens in the southern zone of WI. Will be out there at first light setting for rats and mink. Next week otter! If I get a chance I might set for k-9's.

Made a 6 day hard run on coon came in with 82, then back to work for a few days. Will be off again soon and plan to put out some rat traps some where.  Boy and I plan to hit the Mississippi river for rats Nov 13th when that season opens.
I have all the coon I caught skinned and about 20 some of them scrapped and boarded. I will pick away a few a day at getting the rest hides out of the freezer and put up.
Managed to shoot a few duck and a goose along the way there too :-)

Nice run Mac, No skunks?????  I finally got  five skunks , four in mink sets one in coon box.  Im running about 20 miles north of where i usually trap so  that could be reason.  Coon population is still way down here, sometimes the hound hunters go all nite without a run.  Usually trapped  approximately 150 plus coons, only  picked up 52.. Turned in a bunch of fishers and one otter , i caught otter and partner caught the fishers, and he doesnt have any tags; :( :-[, forgot to apply....

All our open water froze up 2 days before the season opened, there 4 inches of snow on the ground.I don't know what I'll do this season,I'm still dealing with my Mom's stroke.
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

I only had 2 skunks during that week, no idea where they all were? There was and still is a lot of corn standing here and other crops. So I'm not sure if numbers were low or if the skunks just weren't traveling. I did have a personal best however on essance. I got a large male skunk in a grizz trap. After I knocked him down he gave up over and oz of juice. I filled 1 - 1oz bottle and still had just over 2 cc in the syringe. That for me is the most juice ever from one skunk. As I recall the most I've ever gotten was 3/4 oz. Sure wish everyone I caught was like that.
I also notice a lack of felines on my line this year????? normal week I would expect to see anywhere from 1 to 5 or more a day. I didn't keep deatailed records :-) but I think I only had like 5 or 6 all week??? Go Figure?
Went out monday to set some rat traps on a piece of river and found it already set up. Didn't surprise me with all the rat talk there has been. No traps out now till the Mississippi zone opens.

Yup. I'm thinking about heading out tomorrow and putting some snares up and see if I can have any success at getting a coyote or two and maybe a fox. The past couple of years in this area near my house has netted a few coyotes and martens.
