Thinking about a TC Encore 209x50
« on: October 16, 2006, 01:45:53 AM »
I'm thinking about getting a 209x50 barrel setup up for my encore.  If any of you have them I'd love to hear what you think of them and what kind of accuracy you get out of them!

I have the T/C 209x50 and love it. Shot at 5 deer with it last year and got all 5! Mine will shoot 3 shots all touching at 50 yds. at longer ranges I have trouble seeing the target even with my scope at 7x but I still manage to get 1 1/2 - 2". I ust the T/C shockwaves 250gr. with 90 gr. 777 loose powder. I also bought my 14 yr old son one last year for Christmas and my 13 yr old is getting one this year.
I have done a little work on mine not because it needed it but because I just like playing around. I put in a larger hinge pin and a lighter trigger spring. I also polished the all the components of the trigger and I floted the barrel.

I've got one and love it. I put a Nikon Buckmaster 3X9-40 on it and the load I shoot is a Hornaday 240 grain XTP mag in a MMP sabot and two 50 grain Pyrodex pellets. Groups are 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" at 100 yards. I also put a Sims Limbsaver recoil pad on it. With the 100 grain load it doesn't kick much harder than my 7-08. With the weight of the barrel out front I can shoot offhand at 20 oz soda bottles at 100 yards and hit them repeatedly. Get one, you won't be sorry. ;)

I have 2 of them and one is the pro-hunter. I get sun MOA out of both of them. I have had a total of 5 of the Encore muzzleloader's. My buddy bought 2 of them for him and his wife. He loves his Encore's, I also just sold my 45 Cal Encore to another buddy and he took it out and shot it and could not believe the accuracy of the Encore.  Also you can come to the M/L forums here on Graybeard and there is a lot of information on the Encore posted there. All I can say is get it.  ;)

i don't have a Encore, but today i was at the range with my M1 Garand and every one else was doing muzzlelaoding?? must be the deer season opening up. but three of the 5 guys there had T/C Encore's in muzzlerloader. i watch them shoot all most dead in the center bullseye's at 100 yards. two were blued with walnust stocks and burris scopes. and the other was all tricked out in a thumbwhole stock with the green lookng camo all over every thing. he had some pictures of the buck he got with it last year. oh he said he had three of them? didn't like changeing barrels, once there sighted in i don't like to take them apart, thats what he said?  i don't muzzle load but i was impressed by them!!!

I have one, and I love it.  I get a 1" three shot group at 100 yds, using TC's 240 grn. XTP bullet and 100 grains (2- 50 grain pellets) of Hodgon Pyrodex.  I say you should stop thinking about it, and go get it.

I just last week resighted my TC Encore 209x50. Using 300gr shock waves and 150gr loose pyrodex I can get  quarter size groups from the bench @ 100 paces. I have owned several front stuffers but gave them all away when I got the Encore. I shot a few rounds at a paper plate about 185 yards and managed to keep them all on. I have a Nikkion 3x9 scope. I love this set up. Enjoy!
