Yugo M48 mauser
« on: October 19, 2006, 05:08:21 PM »
OK, apparently no one is familiar with Kentucky Imports offerings of Yugo M48's.  Any suggestions about the best place to buy a M48 (ideally matching #'s, excellent to new condition)?  Any info is appreciated.

I got mine along time ago from Military Gun Supply out of NY (now out of business)
You can find them all over for under $100.  Try AIM (www.aimsurplus.com),  I know they have them again. Also, look up Classic Arms online (www.classicarms.us)---they usually have great prices and honest descriptions so you know what you're getting.
My Yugo, I scoped with an Iron Elite mount(easily removed, non-altering of original rifle) and it shoot moa easily at 100 yds with both Yugo milsurp ammo and S&B softpoint ammo

Thanks Trib.  I've seen the AIM guns advertised, but they are only "very good condition" and no indication of whether they have matching #'s.  I would at least like to get one that has matching #'s on the bolt and receiver.  What I'm really looking for is some info on excellent, unissued or "new" condition guns.

I bought an $80 'shooter grade' M48A from AIM a while back.  It is what it is and I'm more than satisfied for that price (I'd rate it as 'good' condition).  It does have matching #s (receiver, bolt, floorplate, and stock) but no cleaning rod or front sight hood.  Have never personally dealt with KY Imports but at that price you should be getting a really nice piece.  I've examined one from Mitchell Mauser and it did appear to be in as-issue condition. I just think you pay a premium for the hype.

Since I got my C&R, I've found that you often have to 'pay your money and take your chances' when purchasing sight unseen.  I have only had to send one gun back that clearly did not live up to advertised condition though a couple have been borderline.  The one I sent back (to Southern Ohio Gun) was replaced with a really nice one.  Be sure to ask whoever about their return policy (return shipping, restocking fees, etc.) if your 'just not happy with it!'
