What are your thoughts on the .22 Jet?
« on: October 20, 2006, 03:03:10 AM »
I just picked up an 10" octagon .22 Jet barrel for $100. It needs an extractor and rear sight (or scope and mount). I have twenty pieces of brass, but no dies yet. Does anyone have any experience with the Jet? Is this something, that is worth working with, and investing in dies and more brass?

Thanks

John

With a 40 gn. bullet you will be about the same velosity as a Hornet. Not a long range gun, but not real loud an a very nice short range varmint or target round.

I rather enjoy it, it is quiet and very accurate. You'll need to slug your bore to find out what the size is, all the newer barrels are .224, some of the older T/C's have the .223" and I have seen some with the .222". All three bullet sizes are still available so it is not a problem. We have brass in stock for the season (+/- 3500pcs on hand) It usually lasts until about July. Load wise H110 and W296 are great.

It should do well for short range varminting. If I had one, I'd get a few hundred peices of brass and load them up. That way you have a decent stash of ammunition.
