Golden Age of deer hunting
« on: October 22, 2006, 04:56:02 PM »
I finally got out bow hunting last Friday night. Eleven deer walked by me, no shooter bucks, but buck sign every where. I did not get to go bow hunting last year because of surgery, so this is very exciting. While grouse hunting this year I have also seen so much buck sign, rubs and scrapes. There are so many deer in NW Wisconsin. We have a lot to be thankful for. I started deer hunting in 1969 and deer were a rare sight. Now they are every where. Almost hit deer with my truck en route to the deer stands and again on the way back. For the past several years I have been bagging 2-5 deer a year with little problem. I do not know if deer numbers are as high in other states but am curious.
