homemade mods
« on: October 23, 2006, 07:35:50 AM »
hey guys, have any of you modded your air rifles?  i did a quick search and didn't find much, so i figured i'd make a post out of it.

list anything you'd like to share, from a paint job, to a hand-made stock, to a description of modded internals for performance.  of course, please keep anything illegal to yourself.

i'll start with my crosman 2240.  i posted on it a while ago, but i've since had several people pm me questions about it.

basically, i made the stock by hand, i bought a 2260 barrel to replace the original, i rebuilt the back end of the rifle to accept an additional spring (which i can use to tweak velocity), and i drilled and tapped 1/8" tapered pipe threads into the front of the valve to accept a grease gun hose (rated at 5000psi).  the rifle now accepts any standard CO2 tank used for paintball, and i use a 12 oz tank that lasts about a month before i need to refill it (for only $3.25).

has anyone here experimented with making parts on a lathe?  i've seen some excellent muzzlebrakes on other sites.
When the whole world is crashing down around me, atleast I'll have my SKS.
