.325 WSM awesome on elk!

I shot this big bodied boy opening morning here in Montana..100 yards or so with my Kimber .325 WSM and factory Winchester Powerpoint 220 grain bullet. one shot broke both shoulders...right leg was useless he went less than 50 yards and collapsed. nice and clean. Nice elk. Great bullet performance.
Anyway just wanted to show you guys...Love that .325 !!! Try these
No, the gun is empty and the angle makes it look like it is pointing at my head but it is actually pointing up and away from me.l

Why thats a nice elk you got there
I do have to say, It was bullet placement and not necessarily the 325 that dropped the elk.
Any who, nice shot

Nice shootin and I'm sure the 325 played a BIG part on dropping that animal so soon. To put a bullet through BOTH shoulders of an elk is quite a feat.
I'm re-barreling my Savage 30-06 to a 338-06 (have the barrel now, just need all the other parts) soon and am looking forward to near identical performance of your 325. I really want to try the Barnes TSX in 215-225 weights.

Just did some more comparisons and it looks like the 325 WSM is still a bit faster than what I can expect from the 338-06. The 338-06 shoud move a 220gr bullet at about 2700 as compared to the 325 at 2840 published.
Still the 338-06 ought to be pretty effective. Hopefully as effective as your 325 was. How is the recoil from that caliber?

Very nice, Patrick.
BTW, when you go to reload Woodleigh have just released 200gn and 220gn Protected Point bullets (like Mag Tips) specifically for the 325 WSM.
They're bonded core and should perform superbly on the next elk you take.
