Nosler AccuBonds in .308 180 Gr.

Anyone have the latest Nosler load data for this bullet? How does it shoot in a Handi?

www.handloads.com might have something for you.  i don't load that bullet in the .308 so i couldn't speak to it.

you may also want to call nosler.    1-800-285-3701.   actually i'd call nosler before trying something from handloads.com!

BTW:  what are you hunting?    you might get good/better results out of a .308 by going to the 'compromise' 165 gr' bullet.   it all depends upon the game, i'd say.

Mac shot a deer last year with the .338" 180gr Accubond, he was happy with the results. Load data for the Nosler BT is what's supposed to be used until they publish data for it. That's the data I used for the 180gr Accubonds that I loaded for my son's .30-06 bolt gun, no deer yet, but they're  extremely accurate in his Win 670, 3 shots almost touching at 100yds with 53.5gr H4831SC.

an important thing to remember when hunting deer, whether whitetails or mulies in my opinion, is to keep your impact velocity relatively high with a bullet of proper construction to allow its jacket (out of a rifle, i mean) to open up and achieve a quicker kill.   a bullet that is relatively heavy for caliber, like a 180 gr' projectile in a .308 cartridge, may not achieve that impact velocity as readily as a 150 or 165 gr' bullet.   

(handgun projectiles are designed to open up, oftentimes, at relatively low velocities.   that's the reason for the success of the hornady xtp's)

Thanks again folks!!!!!!! I Think I'll use Remmy Ultra factory 180's. I think the Accubonds results I just reviewed are too mixed for my liking. Last two years I used Nosler Partitions with good results but the tips are very fragile. Next year I'll consider the Nosler Partition again but with the protected point.

I just finished working up a load for a friends handi in .308 with 150 gr. accubonds, I am impressed.

the load is as follows:
Winchester Brass
win. mag primer
46 gr. Varget
150 gr. AccuBond

best 100 yard group .700" for 3 shots with a 3x9 x 40 scope.
This is my first load for his gun so I may be able to bring that down some more.
