« on: October 29, 2006, 03:59:47 PM »
i was wondering if a 410/45 barrel would go on a huntsman frame and can you shoot 45-70 out of a 45/410 barrel i have thought about getting one and someone told mentioned that 45-70 ammo would work in the same gun any help would be appreciated

The 410/45 barrel might fit, but H&R/NEF won't fit that barrel to a SB1 frame. Also it is not recommended that you shoot .45 LC with the SB1 frame, even though some of the old frames have the low pressure rifle and pistol caliber barrels on them.

NO on the 45-70.

A lil bit of correction. According to http://www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryProgram.aspx the 41C     .410/45 Colt, 20"     $89.00 barrel can be fit to the SB1 frame.

I stand corrected. :-[ ;D Thought they treated that one like the 44 and 357 barrels.

But don't even think about trying to shoot 45-70 out of that barrel. :-[

I have no scientific data on the 45-70 out of that barrel. I wouldnt do it or let anyone I love.

I think they should treat the 44 and 357 barrel the same. I am sure someone can post info as to why not but I have always thought of a 410 as one of the most pressurized shells there are.

With the exception of the smaller pistol cartridges like the 45 and 38, shotgun pressures are no where near centerfire pressures, with all shotguns gauges and the .410 at or below 14kpsi SAAMI MAP.
