You "think" it's a .223? Ya know we really do NEED to know the chambering if you want good info.

"Looks like a shotgun", what's that mean. Shotguns come in single barrel break open, double barrel SxS and O/U configuration, pumps and semiautos. There is no one look of a shotgun.

All the TCs other than their .22LR semiauto are single shots.

Going back to the comment of "looks like a shotgun" I'm gonna "assume" you meant by that it is a break open gun like a single barrel shotgun. Correct? If so it's either an Encore or Contender. Which I have no clue from the info you've given us to go on. We need more info from you if you want us to help.

No I can almost guarantee you it's NOT a collector rifle, it's just a common run of the mill TC either Encore or Contender most likely IF it's a break action.

This TOTALLY contradicts all that the previous above info indicated. The System One is/was a not break action muzzle loader as I recall. Definitely NOT a .223 or any centerfire type rifle.

So basically what you've done is ask us to identify for you a TC gun that might be any one of at least 50 different ones that have made over the years and given us absolutely no useful info to help you. If you want help you have to give us something more to go on. It's strictly a stab in the dark to even try to help.

But it's NOT a collector and it might or might not be worth what they are asking which you've not even told us that. Go get more info, come and post it and then we'll try to help you.

Didn't TC make a high end single shot something called the TCR 78 or something like that?

I was thinking it may be a TCR, but I haven't seen one for so long that I wouldn't know what it is worth.  Anyway I think that TCRs were an aquired taste, and would have to go to the right person to have much value.  While much better built (in my opinion) many would put it in the same price range with Handi Rifles.  To the right person I am sure it would go for more.

Almost forgot about those but yes they made two different versions of it. I think TCR 83 and 87 but wouldn't wanna bet the farm on the dates. Nice guns for sure. You can still buy extra barrels used from time to time and SSK Industries will make new ones for you I'm pretty sure. I'd be tempted by one of those myself. Not sure they have all that much collector status but yes they are nice and well worth having if the price is right.
