Here it is so ya all don't have to look for it! ::) It's confirmed, they're both listed on Sports South's web site. I knew about the .444, but hadn't looked yet. They have several new offerings with the designation of SBS-XXX. The 45LC is listed as a Buffalo Classic!

Yeah, isn't that cute!!  Here's a BC stocked Handi for a peek at what it'll sorta look like, sans the butt plate!!

I think they should have offered it in the Handi like the .444M, the BC will cost at least $100 more than a Handi.  :'(

Not for us, we'll just wait for an acc barrel, but for new Handiholics to be, the .45LC should be a budget "fun" gun, an extra $100 for the rifle will take some of the fun out of it, unfortunately.

Tim,
That looks pretty sharp with the 20" barrel. Is that the original front sight for that barrel? It looks a little taller.

Thanks Don, it's a 22" .45-70 barrel with a Williams shotgun shorty ramp and Firesight insert. I took a cue from your BC with recoil pad instead of the steel butt plate, it also has a C&H mercury recoil reducer in it, shoots 405gr rems at 1900-2000fps very "dainty" like!! ;D

Well ,many have been clamoring for a decent 45Colt and another 444Marlin. I am glad to see them offered.
So what exactly will these new 223 and 243 configs be  ???
I see one listed as a Superlight, and 24"SB/WS....24" Stainless Bull perhaps ???

I once owned a Winchester 94AE in .45 Colt and was mostly underwhelmed... but I'd really like a .444 to play with.  ;D

just called HR to see the status of my acc barrel order, they are shipped  ;D

then I asked about these new chambering, she knew nothing of them.  Take it for what its worth, I did not ask to talk to anyone else or pry further.

I think I still would go with the 44 mag I have on the way.  Its something with different performance than other choices.  The 444 is really an obvious and simple addition, since they already have the bore diameter on the shelf.  The 45LC is an interesting addition however.   My 2 cents however, I would rather have a 6.5 bore than another one just slightly smaller than the 458.  I think they have the 40s covered now, with these 3.

Let's just hope the .444M isn't overbore and slow twisted like the .44Mag! ::)

On the SBS-XXX, we can always hope for a double rifle....Side-By-Side=SBS!!!!

Side by Side would be kinda bold move for NEF/H&R. And in a 223 Heavy Barrel =HB...and Superlight 243 ???
Weird, but cool if so.

That .45 sounds interesting, but I think I'll wait until some brave soul buys one to find out how they've done on the bore and twist. Be a real hoot if they said "what the hell , we've 45/70 bores already, just do a new chambering".  Just kidding. I hope.

I have stocked my classic 7x57 Handi with a set of BC wood and I think it looks sharp. As far as the .45LC goes I guess it might be OK but I would not go out of my way to buy one and would still much prefer a 20" .45 ACP barrel, I think the ACP chambering would be a real fun and handy gun. I  do not believe I would purchase a .45LC but would jump at a .45 ACP.
Who in the heck is making these decisions for the company anyway? Perhaps the same person that decided to originally drop the .357 Barrel and to make the "new" .35 Whelen barrel 22" inches instead of the original 26" length?  I have heard of a few that have wanted the .444 and some of us here have stated a .45 ACP would be nice but not ONE that has EVER expressed ANY desire for a .45 LC barrel. Perhaps as some have said it's possibly because they may already have that bore diameter barrel in production and it's cheap and easy to chamber it for another case, but what good is that if no one wants one? They would be much better served to just offer us a chance to purchase thier bored and rifled but unchambered barrels at a less cost than chambered and fitted barrels through the accesory barrel program. We could have those barrels chambered for what we want. That however I know will never happen and I understand and can agree with the company's reluctance to do so....<><.... :)

Quick I wish that did stand for side x side.I would love to have a 45-70 of 444 in a double. :)I wanted that Remington 45-70 sxs ,but I guess it never came out. It's in the catalog but no gun shop I've ever called got one.Like all gun companys put it in the catalog ,but DON'T EVER MAKE ANY.I love it when they do that. ::)I guess we'll have to wait and see if thats what it is.Dave.

MSP- I personally agree with you on the 45 Colt. I personally have no use for it, but I believe H&R/NEF are aiming at the Cowboy Action shooters out there. As I have been reading and hearing the old 45 is making a comeback in the sport.
But still it's a corner market and if this is the case,  I ask why mass produce a caliber, that for the most part, appeals to a corner market -where there are limited people pursuing this- and not go to the mass market users who will buy sporting and varmint barrels?
Personally I believe they gave up on the 7.62 barrel too soon, and should have just made it availabile in the barrel program. But it seems they have pulled the plug, and the decision has been made.

In any case, I am glad to see another couple calibers offered, and the return of the 444 is a welcome addition. Hopefully these aren't all that we will see next year...

 Dave,
If you want a side by side .45-70 you only need to look as far as Kodiak. That make a .45-70 and a ML double rifle. Cabalas carried them at one time. They shouldn't be that hard to track down.

Rusty, I say them in there before I'm not sure if they still offer them or not. They might be on Davide Pedersoli web site.Always wonder how strong they were. I won't spend that kind of money unless it can take at least Marlin level loads.Beautiful rifles and great craftmanship. If you happen to see them for sale somewhere let me know.Dave.

I met a guy at the range earlier in the year who had a handi in .45 colt. All he had was cowboy loads so I let him shoot one of my handloads. He was shocked at the recoil difference. Are you sure this caliber hasn't been out for some time?

It's been available in the Survivor as a .45C/.410 with no sights, just a bead. The new offering is all rifle.

Quick,

Do you have any idea when the 45 colt barrel will be out, or the entire rifle?  Oh, and I wanted to thank you for sending me that article by the way, been busy doing stuff with the military.
