would it be possible???
« on: October 30, 2006, 04:31:18 PM »
to take a new vaquero in 357 and rebore the chambers to 44special then add a vaquero barrel off a 44mag??
two things i wonder abt
one: would the timing still be the same as far as the cylinder goes? would the chambers still lineup with the barrel?

two: would the barrel from an original vaquero thread into the new vaquero frame??

i think a stainless new vaquero in 44spec. with a 4inch tube would be a fine shooter

just wonderin mind you

yeah, buy a new gun.  that much time and money would get you another, then you would have just that, two guns.  make a trade in a save even more money if you dont have a use for the old one.

Buy a new gun?   That'd be great if the gun that is wanted after the conversion was actually an available model.  Since it's not a factory otion, some aftermarket work is needed.   Were it me, I'd have a look at the package offered by Clements which specifically is for a conversion from .357 to .44 specail on a Ruger SA.

Sounds like what I would like to do.  Find a used .357 'new' vaquero as I like the frame size and rebore the cylinder to .44 spl.  I have a 4" 'pre-warning' bbl waiting in a drawer.  My local gunsmith feels that the old barrels will screw onto the 'new' vaquero frame.  That would make a nice packing .44 spl.  Better yet if Ruger would offer it in .44 spl but there's no word of that from them.  I'll just have to wait.  44 Man
