Here's my .02.
I bought the veri-flame set-up plus ten extra "primer holder thingies" to the tune of about thirty bucks @ Cabela's. I bought a hundred each sm pistol, sm pistol mag, sm rifle and sm rifle mag primers. I loaded the veri-flame "thingies" w/five of each. Off I went, to realize drastically improved accuracy and the virtual elimination of the dread T7 crud-ring.
I found it hard to discern the benefits as the #$%&*%$ rifle only went off about every third time I dropped the hammer. When the gun did fire the "thingy" stuck in the primer pocket about every other time on the first "loading" and two of three successful ignitions if the "thingy" had been re-loaded.
I shoot a Pro-Hunter Encore. The breech plug is very long and as noted on another post, quite cavernous right up to the flash hole. Maybe the Small Rifle or Pistol primers dont have the fire to carry the spark that far? I shoot loose 2f T7. Perhaps these baby primers are not hot enough to light this notoriously hard to light powder? It could be that my primer pocket is under-sized?
However, when I use a Winchester 209 there is a wonderfull cloud of white smoke, a booming report, and a very noticeable shove EVERY TIME. ( and the spent primer practically falls out)
I have nothing against the PR people but I hope this will save someone thirty dollars and alot of headaches. HOWEVER if you must try the veri-flame system, send me a SASE and I will with all due haste send you mine!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the primers too if you want them)
