Over the past years many have talked about why the NEF want shoot the 7.62x39 surplus ammo. Looked under FAQ and didn’t locate the information. Point me to a file that will discuss why they want work in our NEF.

I plan shooting soft point only in mine just wanted to know.

Don, there are a bunch of threads on the subject, failures to fire due to hard, recessed primers are the biggest reason and why H&R has discontinued production of that caliber, they got too many complaints concerning failures to fire. FWIW, those that shoot sporting ammo in theirs love them, but the reason too many shooters bought them was so they could shoot cheap milsurp, which H&R warns against in the owner's manual.

I hunt with all my guns so MillSurp ammo is not of any use to me. Remember that they were not shooting well even when ignition was accomplished. For a rifle as special as the 7.62x39 it is reloads. Constant search and looking for that magic spot.
