300 grain Jacketed hollow point works great for me and take it easy on yourself and don't load max loads . Not needed and still performs nicely.

I absolutely love that barrel. Get a copy of the Complete Reloading Manual for the Contender available from TC's custom shop, Fox Ridge. They have tons of loads for just about every caliber made. I happen to like shooting H322 in that gun with a 300 grain Sierra or Hornday HP. It is devastating on deer, bear and wild hog.

That thing will definately give a RUSH.  I use 300GR Hornady and Rel7 or H322. Also you may want to try Fed mag rifle primers.  Works for me.  What it is that won't stop, you don't want to mess with!!!  I also agree with the "take it easy" load.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt   :)    :)    :)    :)

You might consider the .45 Long Colt.
More efficient case size. Can load down more easily or with the right powder selection, load up to 'hot' loads.
