mirage hull load data?
« on: April 18, 2003, 09:53:31 PM »
I have purchased a mec 12GA shotshell loader. I have access to many Mirage (stevens) hulls. I cannot find any load data on them, in the Lyman #4  handbook, Hodgson, or IMR load books. They are reloadable aren't they??

Does anyone have any loading info on them? And do you need special primers for them to reload?
I currently have green dot powder, cci209 or w209 primers, wwaa wads, on hand and would like to try 1oz and 1-1/8oz loads of 7-1/2, or 8 shot.

I also have several hundred Eley, english made hulls, which I would like to use for the same 1 or 1-1/8oz loads, if anyone has load data pertaining to them.

"Any" load data would be greatly appreciated for these hulls. The data does  not have to neccessarily be using the above components.

These are strictly target loads I need.

Premium once fired hulls such as Fed Gold Medal, and Rem STS are all but impossible to get here in Surrey. I can't  justify the prices for them on e-bay, with shipping costs involved, customs, duty etc.
  Please help!!

    Thanks!!  BILL

First step is to identify your hulls.  Is there a chance that they are manufactured by someone other than the box label, or that the hulls come from a known name?  Estate and Kent cartridges, for instance, are made with Cheddite hulls, and Cheddite load data is available.  Likewise, a couple of other companies use the Fiocchi hull.  (I believe PMC uses the Fiocchi hull, but I'm absolutely certain.)  As far as Mirage and Eley data per se, I have not seen any here in the States.  Your best bet may be a gun club in the UK.

That's a good point Bob, I havve heard of several names put on the same manufactures shells.

The box says Mirage T2 shooting, made in Italy by Clever. 70mm

I have to admit the factory loads are actually quite good for a low price shell. I shot in a Pita event today using them and they are very easy on the shoulder. 2-1/2 dram, 1-1/8oz, 7-1/2 shot. They seem to shoot quite good. I notice they appear to have a seperate plastic basewad, and the brass is slightly higher than a AA hull.

I will take your advice and see about some British/european sites, that may have them mentioned, on a forum. Perhaps they are common  overseas, as I imagine wins, rems, feds etc would be wuite expensive.

  Thanks, Bill
