I had a 44 mag Colt Anaconda and a 10" Contender and I remember the Contender kicking alot more, would the 500 in an Encore vs the S&W revolver be the same thing?
Thanks-Ron

Revolvers give gasses plenty of opportunity to bleed off; therefore it kicks but not too bad.  With Encores and Contenders the breech is sealed; therefore you experience the full effect.  At least that was the way it was explained to me.

In practical application, my Super Blackhawk 44 mag packs a punch running 305 grainers through there.  Shooting the same bullet in my Contender makes the muzzle flip straight up and packs a real wallup.  It feels like I'm shooting a much larger caliber.

What exactly are you looking for?
The best advice I can give anyone that wants to shoot a gun and find out the recoil, is to go out and shoot one.  Because what is not much recoil to me may be a lot more than you thought it was.  If your looking for numbers, I don't have any.

I just know a 454 Casull in an Encore is a lot more than a 44 Mag is in the Encore. And the 500 would be a lot more than the 454 Casull. I personally did not like the felt recoil from a 454 Casull in an Encore, but in a revolver it was not bad in my opinion.

I have shot thousands of 500 Mag rounds in revolvers but never in an Encore. I don't think I would like the recoil of the Encore with a 500 Mag.

Ramos1212 pretty much hit the nail on the head and it makes alot of sence.  That is all I was "looking" for, just an explanation......

Sometimes we have the same question asked several times, There are a lot of post here on the subject and you can look them up by just looking at the topics. For instance, the 460 Recoil question that was just asked. If you had looked at it, you would of had the answer you were looking for. I gave the same answer there as Ramos1212 did here.
