Wow, lookin good!!! ;) Same finish on my .45-120 barrel thanks to Wayne!! I don't have any experience shooting that far, our range only has 300yds available and I've only shot at 200yds so far with the .45-120 BC. But Bernie(dodd3) has shot his BC at 800yds using 500gr cast bullets, he and The Montanan would be a couple of the shooters here that have that kind of experience to share.

Mac;

Yours is real close, we sand blasted and cooked yours when I did mine, chamber work is done.

My barrel is not ported, that is a "screw on" Muzzel brake. Real fine Machining to make a seamless looking seam. Have done lots of .338 bullets, 1.3" and 1.5" jackets are in the mail for making 250 to 300 grain bullets.  Have to trim them for lighter weights.

Thanks Tim,

will check out those links.

swageall

Cool...Let me know if you trim anyback for the 215's or 200's...I'm wanting to try some heavy jackets in this weight...I'm testing some of the Northfork 200 grainers and hope to put some venison in the freezer second season here with them..

What's your opinion on shooting BC's 600 to 800 yards?
Swageall ... you'll have no problem shooting 600 - 800 or even a 1000 with that neat rig you put together.  Is really nice.

BC (45-70) 500gr custom BP bullet, 57gr H777 by volume @ 600yds using a vernier sight ... 7" x 2 1/4" is my best.  Using a Lyman Postell (1:20) with 68gr of Goex Ctg or Swiss 1.5 ... averages are 12 - 14" @ 600yds ... vernier sight.  You should be able to drill cloverleafs with the scope on your rifle

Don't shoot the white powder, so no help from this end

John Boy

What was the turn-around time on the refinish and m-brake?

My upcoming winter project is along the same lines as that, except some custom wood work would accompany it.

Swageall,

I just thought of a problem you may have with the long distance shooting with the scope, although I can't tell what rings you're using, they look like they may be Burris Sig Zees, if they are, using the offset inserts would more than likely be necessary to get enough elevation to shoot that far, even with a mildot reticle, most scopes don't have enough travel, the inserts allow up to 30MOA of increased elevation if set up properly. And then again, you probably already thought of this!! ;D

Great looking BC.
As for scope adjustment problems...What if you put on of these on her:

The SS has a ton of adjustment, thats for sure.

I would just like to see what it would look like 8)

Way cool on your place of employment.

I've yet to obtain another BC barrel to send off, but as soon as I do I plan to send off for the 45-120 rechamber, cerra-coat and m-brake job.

.458" spitzers,  I've yet to find a spitzer or any other round that explodes chucks like a .220 swift without having to hollow the nose out to nearly the jacketing.   I use 300gr JHPs, then I use a drill press and jig to hollow them out to about 250grs +/-.   Once you do that you have a flying ashtray..

Hits and misses are draumatic.  Either a nice big puff of dust and grass,  or  giblets+grass+dust from the core passing thru to a backstop.

Very nice swageall!how well does that muzzle brake work?Ive had all mine done by mag-na-port and I think it really helps. Also what is this ceramic coat you guys are talking about?Ive had most of my guns done in what they call black ''T''.Just teflon coating and its real nice but a little to expensive(wife gets mad when she sees the gunsmith bill)lol.I wouldnt mind at all finding something that looks as good and is less money because we all know H&R should do abetter job when it comes to gun finish. After all to my way of thinking these are alot better guns then what most people think they are and they need to look good.
